Ann-Louise Spurgin completed her Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Hons) at the University of Queensland in 1995. She currently holds the position of Consultant Speech Pathologist – Cancer Care Services at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. Ann-Louise has a strong interest in education in this speciality area. She has also been involved in numerous research projects focusing on the communication and swallowing disorders following head and neck cancer and has co-authored a number of journal publications and textbook chapters. Ann-Louise has a strong interest in education in this speciality area. In 2008, Ann-Louise received training by Dr Blom in Indianapolis, USA in order to deliver his voice restoration course in Australia.
Kelli Hancock completed her Bachelor of Speech Therapy at the University of Queensland in 1993. She has been a consultant clinician and team leader speech pathologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane since 2004. Her clinical area of specialty is the assessment and management of swallowing and communication disorders following treatment for head and neck cancer, in particular laryngectomy surgery. She has been involved in mulitple clinical research studies and projects in this area, authoring several journal publications, SPA clinical guidelines and textbook chapters. Kelli is passionate about education and training in this clinical area and has participated in international opportunities including training by Dr Blom in 2008 to deliver his voice restoration course in Australia. More recently, she has completed her PhD in 2022 investigating in the clinical area of speech pathology and laryngectomy.
